Tintown
In a bar, a mysterious stranger told the bartender a bizarre story to trade for alcohol:
A gambler encountered a scam at a game booth that played with stones. Afterwards, he trailed the booth owner, a blind man, to an isolated village.
The villagers gathered in a small teahouse, also playing a game with stones. The gambler gradually discovered that the villagers were color-blind, and he could easily win the game by distinguishing the color of the stones.
Just when the gambler was eager to try, the woman who ran the teahouse repeatedly drove him away, as she seemed to know his secret. The gambler ignored the woman’s warnings, and eventually brought himself catastrophic troubles.

This is an exotic Chinese "western"; a dark version of "The Tale of Peach Blossom Garden"; and an absurd fable that discusses a clichéd topic: how greed can devour a person. I attempt to narrate this story from the view of two different characters: at the beginning of the story, we follow the outsider’s adventure to enter the isolated Tintown, and we end the story with the villagers’ flee to complete the story’s cycle. Both characters are driven by greed, eager to enter an alien world to live a better life, however, they both step on a path that will lead to self-destruction.
