The First Person I Never Told

The First Person I Never Told follows Jesse, an eighteen-year-old navigating his stepfather's terminal illness, alongside his attraction to his best friend Max.

Director Statement

Unlike many first-time coming-out stories, The First Person I Never Told doesn’t focus on the consequences of coming out, but on the repercussions of not doing it earlier. It explores themes of
filial relationships, and death.

The weight of silence, the moments we let slip away, and the people we wish we had spoken to sooner. It’s a reminder that there’s never a perfect time to do what matters most; you just have to take the leap before it’s too late.

At its heart, the film isn’t about guilt or shame for being queer, it’s about the courage to share your truth with the people you love. That honesty makes the story resonate not only with queer audiences but with anyone who’s ever struggled to say what they really feel.
