I was born in Detroit, Michigan, a Motown Girl. I graduated high school, went to Jr. College; got married at 20 and life began— the life of hard knocks. It’s cold in the D, even colder when everyone’s against you, including your own husband.
It’s the year 2000, I’m a single mother of three girls and I’ve had four last names. Some said marriage wasn’t for me, but I believed the guys just weren't ready. Being a black hard-working man in America, putting GOD first, family second is hard for some men. I became the victim of their suffering— a punching bag for their anger and wounded emotions.
Fast forward to 2003, I’ve found my voice through poetry. The poem THE CONVERSATION was born and GOD did the rest. From open mic to the stage, and now a TV show. I moved to Hollywood and THE CONVERSATION has come to life— my story, on stage, in front of an audience at the Stellar Adler! I cry every night, thanking GOD. I just wanted to be heard, but GOD, he had bigger plans.
Now it’s 2021, and I’m still here, bruised not beaten.
