Stones on canvas

A world of forms that unfolds. A film in two parts, where in the first, the forms are seen in nature – water, sand, sky, stones, while in the second they are created in the making of a work of art, in this case through an imprint process on canvas.

"The stones belong both to the land and to the sea
They glide from one to the other
Molluscs and algae are their witnesses.

The sand remembers the waves
The water reflects the sky where the clouds are shaped by the wind
Forms in nature, forms in art, are felt and made by the complicity between the eyes and the hands."

Un monde de formes qui se déploie. Un film en deux parties, où dans la première, les formes sont vues dans la nature - eau, sable, ciel, pierres, tandis que dans la seconde, elles sont créées lors de la réalisation d'une œuvre d'art, dans ce cas par le biais d'un processus d'impression sur toile.

Director Biography - Ron Kenley

Trained as an architect with a long career in teaching, he has been creating multi-media and videos since 1998. Started with visual works as film analysis (2001-2003). Over the years, he developed the capacity for handling all the aspects of filmmaking more or less single-handed. This resulted in a diverse and independent work of various lengths and subjects.

Director Statement

In order to make form, matter is transformed. The film constructs images through the transformation of captured moments in different weather conditions, different times of day or night, close-ups and distance shots at varying speeds. The soundtrack is constructed with musical instruments responding to natural sound recordings and to the acousmêtre. The film becomes a form.

Déclaration du réalisateur
Pour créer une forme, la matière est transformée. Le film construit des images par la transformation d'instants capturés dans différentes conditions météorologiques, différents moments du jour ou de la nuit, des gros plans et des plans éloignés à des vitesses variables. La bande sonore est construite avec des instruments de musique qui répondent à des enregistrements de sons naturels et à l'acousmêtre. Le film devient une forme.
