Sounds of the Sidewalk (A Journey of Goodbye)
Steven Ried experienced homelessness first-hand and in his darkest moment, found a choir that brings unsheltered people together through the healing power of music. After being diagnosed with liver cancer, he approached friend and humanitarian photographer Michele Zousmer to document the last 12 weeks of his life. Having a husband who recently died from cancer, she reluctantly agreed. Michele's promise has led to a beautiful account of life and death, along with Steven's final message to the people he loved most. This film is a testament to homelessness, cancer patients, vulnerability in the deepest sense, love and friendship, and quiet moments of grief and loss. Through a personal account of Steven's life, the perception of homelessness is changed forever.
