Documental que rastrea los orígenes del blues en español, mientras rinde un homenaje a Deacon Jones y celebra su legado cultural.
Algo ha cambiado, film dirigido por Sergio “Chapete” Bonacci Lapalma, comienza como el relato del regreso del organista Melvyn “Deacon” Jones a la Argentina. El resultado final, sin embargo, es una biografía lateral de su compañero Norberto “Pappo” Napolitano en los años 90, cuando Blues Local y el Vol. 8 de Pappo’s Blues eran éxitos rotundos, el género vivía un auge popular gracias a la radio Rock & Pop, y el guitarrista tocaba en el Madison Square Garden con B.B. A documentary that traces the origins of the blues in Spanish, while paying tribute to Deacon Jones and celebrating his cultural legacy.
Something Has Changed, a film directed by Sergio “Chapete” Bonacci Lapalma, begins as a story about the return of blues organist Melvyn “Deacon” Jones to Argentina. But it ultimately becomes a lateral biography of his sidekick Norberto “Pappo” Napolitano in the '90s, when Blues Local and Pappo’s Blues Vol. 8 were major hits, the genre was booming thanks to Rock & Pop radio, and the guitarist was performing at Madison Square Garden with B.B. King, who brought him into the Blues Mafia. The film also serves as an obituary for champions like Jones himself, Peter Deantoni, Javier Febré and Pato Larralde—rockers who now watch over us from a place both affectionate and demanding.

Sergio Bonacci Lapalma es un cineasta chicano-argentino que estudió Dirección Cinematográfica en el Centro de Investigación Cinematográfica y de Video (CIEVYC) y complementó su formación profesional en múltiples áreas del cine en el Centro de Formación Profesional del Sindicato de la Industria Cinematográfica Argentina (CFP SICA), ambos en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. También se formó en guion con Aída Bortnik, Juan José Campanella y Santiago Loza. Fue productor y editor en la etapa de pre-edición del documental Soy Ringo (BAFICI 2014). Dirigió BJ: la vida y locuras de Bosco y Jojo (BAFICI 2022), y su nuevo largometraje documental Algo ha cambiado: un viaje quijotesco al blues en español tendrá su estreno mundial en BAFICI 2025.

Sergio Bonacci Lapalma is a Chicano-Argentinian filmmaker who studied Film Direction at the Centro de Investigación Cinematográfica y de Video (CIEVYC) and expanded his professional training in multiple branches of filmmaking at the Centro de Formación Profesional of the Argentine Film Industry Union (CFP SICA), both located in Buenos Aires. He also trained in screenwriting with Aída Bortnik, Juan José Campanella, and Santiago Loza. He was a producer and editor during the pre-editing phase of the documentary Soy Ringo (BAFICI 2014). He directed BJ: The Life and Times of Bosco and Jojo (BAFICI 2022), and his new feature documentary Something Has Changed: A Quixotic Journey through the Spanish Blues will have its world premiere at BAFICI 2025.

"Después de conocer a Melvyn “Deacon” Jones —legendario ícono del blues estadounidense y reconocido organista que colaboró con artistas como John Lee Hooker—, le prometí ayudarlo a volver a Argentina, donde vivía su hermano del alma: Norberto “Pappo” Napolitano. Movido por un espíritu de aventura, emprendí un viaje para rastrear los orígenes del blues en español.
Aunque Deacon falleció durante la filmación, este documental rinde homenaje a su legado y me permite cumplir aquella promesa. Esta road movie transmite un mensaje poderoso de los pioneros del blues en nuestro idioma, celebrando su riqueza cultural e inspirando a las futuras generaciones de amantes del género.
Como diría Deacon, también conocido como el Embajador del Blues: ¡Que viva el blues!"

"After meeting Melvyn 'Deacon' Jones —a legendary icon of American blues and the renowned organist who collaborated with John Lee Hooker, among others— I promised to help him return to Argentina, where his soul brother, Norberto 'Pappo' Napolitano, resided.
Driven by a spirit of adventure, I set out on a journey to trace the origins of Spanish-language blues. Although Deacon passed away during filming, this documentary pays tribute to his legacy and allows me to fulfill that promise.
This road movie carries a powerful message from the pioneers of blues in our language, celebrating its rich cultural heritage and inspiring future generations of blues lovers.
