Savage was premièred at 42º Festival Guarnicê de Cinema (Brazil- 2019), awarded 6 times, including Best Feature and Best actress, also was awarded with Best Feature at 14º Festival Latino-Americano de São Paulo (2019) and will be released in 2020.
Inspired by real events, Selvagem (Demons) is a coming-of-age film which addresses a growing political awareness among young people. However, unlike the norm in this film genre, it is not only about this or that character but about an entire collective. In Selvagem, it is the social relations of the characters which create dramatic action.
With a concern for obtaining naturalistic interpretations and situations, extensive research was done with the young people who participated in the occupations and who collaborated with ideas which were incorporated into the creation of the characters and the script. Through this process, we selected some of these young people to act in the film.
Bearing in mind that much of the notional image of current popular manifestations comes from cellphone cameras, Selvagem opted for the inverse route: a main camera, scene compositions and movements with references to classic cinema, based on triangulations within the picture in relation to cast and camera.
