Director Statement

There is so much noise in the modern world, that includes my city, Jakarta. The mosque speakers scream into your ears since dawn, music in restaurants and coffee shops even malls are often so loud you could barely hear yourself. TV and radio filled with noisy and most of the times stupid commercials. Cars, motorbikes and all sorts of public vehicles engines can just kill your soul!.

I have always been mad about the noises around me, but this time I just capture it and turn into a piece of film. Noise was really inspired by my experience sitting in a rusty public bus with an old man next to me coughing all the way through. A street musician “slash” beggar who just wants to annoys you with his scratchy voice teases you non stop and even puts his hand in front of your face for money.

“Noise” is about ignorance. It is about a society that has no respect to others at all. It's about screaming your own ego, even bullying others only until madness creeps in and turns us into monsters to defend our own peace of mind.
