Queer City
Four decades after the Stonewall riots exploded, life is dramatically different for LGBT people. Queer City shares untold first-person stories of an indomitable spirit that made every victory possible and kept a community moving forward after devastating losses. Queer City explores the lives of a highly diverse group of women and men living across New York City. The film cannot, of course, represent every aspect of LGBT life, but rather weaves together a selection of stories to offer a compelling portrait of queer lives. From a first hand account of invisibility among older people within the gay community to gender transition in a working class immigrant home, Queer City goes outside the usual neighborhoods and archetypal subjects of LGBT narratives.
This film is a personal, intimate exploration of the ways we live now. Queer City incorporates both the routine and the extraordinary to create a remarkable chronicle of contemporary lives. Often hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, the film will introduce you to stories and people you will never forget.
