Into The Grey
LOGLINE - In a heavily polluted, post-apocalyptic future as earth nears natural resource depletion a small rural family struggles to survive the needs of nature and mankind.
SYNOPSIS - The year is 2063, and pollution has cast a dark cloud over humanity. Smog, dust and death occupy the vast majority of the planet while the republic continues to rely on unclean energy sources to support a rapidly declining population.
As fossil fuels approach depletion, the political propaganda is never ending focusing on the illusion that everything is under control, in the face of the longest blackout in history.
Amidst this landscape, Carrie Miller struggles to take care of her estranged father James. But despite their ability to endure the smog – it’s what comes through it that poses the real threat.

Francesco is a Canadian born, London based independent filmmaker. He began directing in 2017 with his first short film Into The Grey, and is currently in pre-production on a short form series.
When he's not directing, Francesco runs an independent production company Envoi Entertainment who has produced two feature length films including the thriller Tear Us Apart and documentary Refugee.
Into The Grey was inspired by an article in the Economist entitled the East is Grey - about smog cities in China. The film explores issues based on real pollution challenges in China, but set in the west amongst a post-apocalyptic backdrop. Within this world we follow the coming of age of Carrie Miller and the relationship with her estranged father James.
With this film I tried to create a dystopian future that examines how bad could it get environmentally and politically, if we let it. With the unnerving feeling that watching from a far is no longer an option.
It's a mash up of some of my favourite genres: Sci-Fi, Drama, Thriller and 'Monster In The House'. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it.
