Welcome to Thrifty Pawn and Loan. Can I interest you in a used tenor saxophone? The tag says fifty dollars. “A sweet and honeyed tone.” But fifty bucks ain’t all you pay for a haunted saxophone…
The inspiration for THE HAUNTED SAXOPHONE came simply.
I'm a comic book artist and one day I passed by a pawn shop and saw a old tenor saxophone for sale in the window. The price tag said "Fifty Dollars". I thought that sax must have a story. So I wrote and illustrated one. The goal was to create the feeling of an unreliable narrator who is actually telling the truth. Kind of a caveat emptor from a Tom Waitsian pawn shop owner with limited color palette and simple animation to give the viewer the feeling of being guided through a comic book reading experience in a little over six minutes.
Hope you dig...
