Lakshan Perera, born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, has been passionate about cinema from a young age. His love for films began in childhood, fueling a lifelong dream to create and tell stories through the art of filmmaking. Inspired by this early passion, Perera pursued formal studies in cinema, honing his skills and understanding of the craft.
He studied at the prestigious Asian Film Academy in Sri Lanka, where he learned under the guidance of renowned film instructor Chandran Rutnam. This foundational education solidified Perera’s technical expertise and storytelling prowess. His commitment to continuous learning has led him to further his education online, studying Film & Television at Falmouth University in England.
With a prolific career already underway, Lakshan Perera has directed over 20 short films, showcasing his versatility and dedication to exploring various genres and themes. Beyond directing, he is also an accomplished screenwriter and cinematographer, bringing a comprehensive skill set to every project he undertakes. Perera’s work reflects his deep-rooted love for cinema, combined with a drive to innovate and inspire within the film industry.
