3Lôas

3Lôas is a short fulldome film created in homage to the 80th anniversary of Brazilian percussionist Naná Vasconcelos (in memoriam), internationally recognized for his innovation and mastery in Afro-Brazilian percussion. Rather than functioning solely as a tribute, the film offers an immersive exploration of Naná’s musical and poetic universe, integrating sound and image to reflect on his artistic legacy.
An artist who transcended geographical and cultural boundaries, Naná Vasconcelos left a lasting mark on the global music scene by articulating traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythms with elements of contemporary music and experimental sound practices. 3Lôas seeks not only to celebrate his contribution to music, but also to immerse the audience in an audiovisual experience that highlights the depth of his work and the richness of Afro-Brazilian musical culture within the spatial and perceptual possibilities of the fulldome format.

Director Biography - Victor Valentim

Victor Hugo Soares Valentim (Brasília, DF, Brazil, 1989), also known as Zivito, holds a PhD in Fine Arts – Technological Poetics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is a multimedia artist, musician, composer, and researcher working at the intersection of music, art, and emerging technologies. He also holds a Master’s degree in Art and Technology (2016) and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition (2013) from the University of Brasília (UnB). He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Music and New Technologies at CECULT, Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB).

Director Statement

3loas is an original fulldome film conceived and directed by me. The work was developed as an autonomous artistic and research-based project, from its initial concept through its visual, narrative, and technical realization.
The film explores immersive audiovisual composition specifically designed for the fulldome environment, treating the dome not as a neutral display surface but as an active spatial and perceptual field. All aesthetic, conceptual, and structural decisions were made in direct relation to this format, with particular attention to spatial continuity, temporal rhythm, and embodied spectatorship.
I hereby declare that 3loas is an original work and that I am the sole holder of all intellectual property and exhibition rights related to the film. The work does not infringe upon any third-party rights, and all elements used in its production were created by me or properly authorized for use.
