Experiencing Interruptions?

Dove

These spaces came to hold very special connections and memories for me furthering appreciation and interest in the power of architecture. I am a high school student (16 years old) majoring in a film program and wanted to create a film focusing on the subtle power of ephemeral light within a home space. For me, this light holds special warmth and sense of belonging both inward and extending to the gardens. The film celebrates natural light and pairs it with the warmth of the fire. It was shot in one afternoon, making it an interesting challenge to capture as much light and scope as possible, which created an natural arc of the aging light moving through the living spaces.

Director Biography - Tilley Aga Thom

My work plays with the spaces that lie in the between. I thrive working within this negative space, which is not a void but rather a vital pause, a gap which holds exciting interplay between realities, objects, people and most importantly narrative structures. This embracement of the inbetween is seen in both my narrative and abstract works.

My work orients around themes of family narratives, storytelling, death and grief explored mainly through mediums of film and photography. I encapsulate these themes through simple, small moments. These moments lead the viewer as well as the characters through a threshold, beyond the scope of the initial moment. Architecture and sculpture are aspects I am constantly experimenting with and use as aid in my storytelling. Although my recent mediums have been filmic, I enjoy drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, textile and fashion design.
