QUIETUDE

Film theme
A portrait of chaos in our world… passion, hate, traffic, war, disease, vaccines, flooding, wildfires, hunger, greed; opulence, technology, innovation, privacy; ambition, self-righteousness; disrespect; news, perspectives, opinions, biases, politics, religion
…and the need for calm.

Music
A jazz rondo for orchestra.

QUIETUDE

I need a little quietude
Just a brief interlude.
Alas a multitude of moods
relentlessly intrude.
The closest I get is when I sit and brood
With exactitude
Especially in turpitude.
You'd conclude a similitude
To a dude who’d exude lassitude.

I need a new attitude.
It might involve a subdued-
But-consuming Liszt etude
And it might take a change in latitude
Or altitude
Not necessarily in the nude
Though I'm no prude
Or a little seafood
(Only the kind that can be chewed
And please, not barbequed
Nor fondued).

Grant me the fortitude.
I would truly exude gratitude
For just a little quietude.
