Director Statement

The title of this short film is inspired by an essay by my volcanological hero, Frank Perret (1867-1943), who was one of the greatest and most dedicated observers of volcanic action, a man devoted to understanding volcanoes to serve humanity, and who exalted the role of volcanism on a living planet. I edited this film from footage I shot while on fieldwork, and assembled the soundscapes from acoustic and seismic signals emanating from the magma of the inner Earth.
