Nicolás Medina is an independent Uruguayan filmmaker from Montevideo, Uruguay. He is an audiovisual technician graduated from the Technician in Audiovisuals career of UTU (University of Work Uruguay, 2016) and an advanced student of the Audiovisual Communication Degree of ORT (ORT University Uruguay). He has also studied direction assistance, film and literature and journalistic documentary at ECU (Film School of Uruguay (2014-2017). In 2019 he was a member of the student jury of FIEC 19 (Film School International Festival) that took place in Cinemateca Uruguaya. In 2020 he founds “Ansiedad”, an audiovisual production independent company formed by various students and graduates of different audiovisual formation careers of Uruguay, making from shortfilms, music videos, documentaries to publicity, events or institutional shootings. His works have been slected in the Lift-Off Sessions Festival (UK), Festival Nacional de Cine Estudiantil - FENACIES (Uruguay) and in Festival de Cine Nuevo - DETOUR (Uruguay).
"MOV_20202808" was made on the framework of the "Lakes in One Take Challenge" of the DETOUR - Festival de CIne Nuevo (New Cinema Festival, Uruguay, 2020) withing 48hs, including pre -production, shooting and post-production. The shortfilm was one of the ten chosen to be a part of the official selection and was wxhibited on the festival. This is my first work at directing fiction outside the student framework and a proof that the found-footage technique, can still be effective and give us goosebumps if used correctly.
