Penelope Hynam is Managing Director of Sea Weaver Productions Inc. in Barbados She has had a 30-year career in Canada in film and television: at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation & CITY television, co-founded the documentary production company Mobius Productions which produced a variety of documentaries for clients, and worked as a Script Supervisor/Continuity on the set of over 40 movies and television dramas. She was the founding Assistant Director of Norman Jewison’s world-class Centre for Advanced Film Studies in Toronto.
In Barbados from 1992, she was Director of the Barbados National Trust and project Director on George Washington House and Museum, and continued to work in film making, writing, producing, co-producing and/or directing several films: "Chattel House", " George Washington in Barbados" (shown daily at the George Washington House historic site), "Island Icon: Dr.Cecil Cyrus", "Power Factor" for Barbados Light and Power, "A Day in a Bajan Life," a series of 10 short film portraits directed and shot by Pelle Hybbinette, an award-winning documentary "Barbados Surfer Girl" on the champion surfer Chelsea Tuach (selected by the Bahamas Film Festival in 2016) and the hour long documentary "Jill Walker: An Artistic Life" (selected in competition at the Barbados Independent Film Festival in 2018.) Sea Weaver is in development on a 13 part television series Growing Up Caribbean. She was a Regional Instructor for the Caribbean Tourism Organization, teaching workshops on Heritage Site Management, taught workshops for the Barbados Film and Video Association co-directed a workshop on Television Production for the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and teaches film Producing. She was the Founding President of the Barbados Film and Video Association.
