Short films allow for creative experiments and provocation and invite artists to play with cinematic styles – for many filmmakers the starting point of their career, others stay and explore the format’s possibilities. While these films may be onscreen for mere moments, they make lasting impressions. Limited in length but never in creativity, short films have their very own energy, far removed from the financial constraints of a feature film and often the rules of cinema itself. Whether they embody the start of an idea or the crystallization of one, shorts are one of the most consistently intriguing cinematic forms, a fascinating world unto themselves. To support and promote young and talented newcomers and to celebrate this variety in film culture, Mysuru Cinema Society in association with Bhartiya Chitra Sadhana, New Delhi hosts Paridrishya - An International Festival of Short Films and Documentaries.

An Unforgettable Experience at Paridrishya International Film Festival
Attending the Paridrishya International Festival of Short Films and Documentaries was nothing short of exhilarating. The energy, the creative minds, and the sheer passion for cinema made it an unforgettable event.

The biggest highlight? My short film, "Theanchittu Catering Services," was screened and honored with the Best Editing award! Seeing my work on the big screen, surrounded by fellow filmmakers and film lovers, was a surreal moment. The appreciation and recognition for the effort put into crafting each frame meant the world to me.

Beyond my film’s screening, I was captivated by the diverse selection of films—each carrying a unique voice and perspective. Engaging in conversations with talented directors, editors, and writers further fueled my love for storytelling.

This festival wasn’t just an event; it was an experience that reaffirmed why I love cinema. A huge thanks to the organizers, jurors, and everyone who made this possible. On to more stories and more screens!

I was thrilled to have my film selected and awarded at the Paridrishya International Film Festival. The festival organizers were incredible hosts- especially the co-convenor Chethan, providing excellent arrangements and accommodations. I truly appreciated their kindness, from arranging meals and pick-up/drop-off services to ensuring reimbursements were processed on the same day the festival ended.

However, I do wish the screenings had been held in better-equipped auditoriums with improved sound systems, and it was a little disappointing to see smaller audiences at the screenings. Additionally, most of the masterclasses conducted by industry professionals were in Kannada, which made them hard for me to follow.

Overall, it was a good experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a welcoming festival.
