Experiencing Interruptions?

A Little Story Called Nour

A human experience filmed in Beirut in 2016 during a workshop that brought together 32 young men and women from diverse social, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds in Syria, including both Assad supporters and opponents. The goal was to enable these young people to build a platform for peace, tolerance, and coexistence over five days, during which they discussed their suffering, differences, and visions for the future.

Editing was postponed for nine years for several reasons, including the director's residency in Syria until 2022, which made it difficult to publish the film due to the danger it would have posed to these young people. Furthermore, a large portion of the footage was lost due to the director's relocation as the situation deteriorated.

In 2024, after the director moved to Italy and the situation in Syria changed, Syrian director and photographer Maher Issa, who still resides in Syria, decided to search for the missing footage. We were able to collect some of it, produce it, and complete the film.

"Noor" is a film that does not document war and its tragedies, but rather seeks to highlight any positive space amidst this tragedy, emphasizing the possibility of creating a new world that allows for tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
