The shimmering mysteries of night
Two large ferries frame the beginning and the end of the film, engaged in a night crossing. The Moon illuminates the sea, marking another path, beyond the navigation channel, increasing the mystery of the night. A choral song from 1950, tells of a Finnish worker’s everyday life in the rhythm of the winter waves. Moby’s “Lonely night” accompanies the crossing. There is a sense of longing in the cold winter. The “Imprint of stones, torn mooring ropes and fishing nets with starfish” by the artist Stefania Kenley penetrates the dark surface of the water.
