The fourth edition of MoRFlix is in partnership with the Calgary Hip Hop and Street Dance Festival and will be on Thursday, November 19, 2026 @ 06:30PM and will run approximately one (1) hour, followed by the Calgary Hip Hop and Street Dance Festival's opening party and jam.

We invite dance film screenings and digital storytellings from UCalgary students, alumni, staff, faculty, and Calgary Hip Hop and Street Dance Festival participants.

RIGHTS REQUIREMENTS
Entrants submitting a film to MoRFlix must be authorized to do so and must have read and agreed to all entry requirements. This includes ensuring that the film and any related materials do not violate or infringe upon any copyright, trademark, musical, visual, choreographic, design, and/or contract right or any other right of any person or entity. It is the responsibility of entrants to ensure all rights for any materials used in the submitted film have been secured.

All rights and permissions for any materials contained within the said entry have been granted and the entrant holds harmless MoRFlix, the University of Calgary, and the Calgary Hip Hop and Street Dance Festival from any or all disputes or claims that may arise from these rights and permissions granted.

ENTRY RESTRICTIONS
MoRFlix is reserved for the submission of works by University of Calgary alumni, students, staff, faculty, and Calgary Hip Hop and Street Dance Festival participants. All current students, staff, and faculty must use their @ucalgary.ca email address for submissions. All alumni and former faculty members must indicate date range at which they were at the university and which program. Calgary Hip Hop and Street Dance Festival participants may submit using any of their own email addresses.

Alumni - includes any and all graduates from the University of Calgary regardless of year graduated and program completed. Alumni do not have to hold a major or minor degree in dance to submit.

Students - includes any and all current students from the University of Calgary regardless of enrolled program. Students do not have to be enrolled as either a major or minor in dance to submit.

Staff - includes any and all current staff at the University of Calgary whether full-time, part-time, or hourly.

Faculty - includes any and all current and former faculty, both full-time and sessional, regardless of faculty affiliation.

Calgary Hip Hop and Street Dance Festival - includes any films by participants / registrants of the festival.

FILM LENGTH
Submitted films must be a minimum of one (1) minute to a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes in length. Exceptions may be made based on inquiry to morf@ucalgary.ca.

CATEGORIES
Films can be in any category in the intersection between dance and film, including narrative, abstract, experimental, documentary, and animation.

SUBMISSIONS
Submissions must be available via Vimeo, YouTube, or an online link. A secure password protected link may be used if the film is not currently public. All video links must be downloadable. Films selected for screening must be provided as an HD digital file that is a minimum resolution of 1920x1080. Since the University Theatre does not have a DCP projector, DCP files will not be accepted.

WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS
Entrants must include a short written description of the film and a short biography of the director(s) via FilmFreeway. The entrant should also provide MoRFlix with press materials (images, etc.) for promotional use alongside credits. If any images are provided, then they must include a photographer’s credit.
