Robert Mercado:
A born and bred New Yorker Robert Mercado learned at a young age the power of the creative mind and was drawn into the world of Entertainment.
In 2014 after several years acting Robert released his first feature film "God, I Miss You" that he wrote, directed and acted in with a full ensemble of some of New York's finest actors. Mercado says "this film is my message to beware big brother and resist against tyranny. I'm proud that this film through all its hot topics that include; rape, drug abuse, sexual identity, terrorism, STI's and more is ultimately a film about the power of love. And how Love for one's self, family and country can be a catalyst to a great many things".
The second feature that he's found himself once again commanding another high octane cast as Director, writer and actor "Godless Men" releases in 2018. "As a conspiracy analyst this project was my attempt to bring light to the UFO and men in black phenomenon and tell that story in an honest way that would make the audience laugh, cry and think "what if we're not alone and the so called men in black have covered it up"?!
Robert has also worked as Director of Photography in the second season of the Web Series "Latin Lives". "I do this because I want to answer that call from the universe to greatness. I love collaborating with creative people and telling stories in a genuine way that doesn't force people into stereotypes. I hope to show people it's okay to dream big as long as you won't stop until you've achieved it".
Mike Dreyden:
“I'm just a guy from Brooklyn, who's in the movies and gets to play on stage”. This has been Mike's tag line for years. And it’s true. Mike was born and raised in the Williamsburg and Greenpoint sections of Brooklyn, New York.
Mike owes his love of acting and theater to Michael J. Fox! He was in love! and loved "Family Ties" and all Fox's movies. Back to the Future drove Mike crazy!
Mike says... "I wanted to be like him. Be on TV. I ask my mom "how do you get to be on TV"? She said "ask your uncle Pablo". I didn’t know it at the time but it turns out he's an Indie film writer/producer/director. I had lunch with him and told him I wanted to be an actor. He asked me what I knew about acting. I knew nothing of course. In the following weeks/months, he took me to see my very first play. AS IS by William Hoffman. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. We talked about the show. He asked me questions that made me think deeply about what I observed as opposed to what I saw. I think the answers I gave him prompted him to give me a book of plays by Tennessee Williams. Every Sunday for a few months we played with Tea and Sympathy. My uncle saw my potential and decided it was time to enrolled me at HB Studio. I started scene study and improv classes in 1986 under Uta Hagen and Trudy Steible respectively."
In 2012 Mike auditioned for and was accepted to Mirror Repertory Company where he studied and worked on his craft under the tutelage and mentorship of acclaimed director and actress and Mirror Repertory founding member Sabra Jones McAteer.
Over the years Mike has appeared in a number of independent films. You can see him in films by Todd Verow and Bruce Hart. You can also see him in the award winning web series Child of the 70s and his own web series LAST CALL which premiered at Brooklyn Web Fest on October 8th 2016 where they received four award nominations. “Emerging Voices”, “Premiering Series”, “Made in NY” and “Audience Award”.
Mike continue to work on my craft and looks forward to developing his story in the next few seasons of LAST CALL... leaving his real estate job, working in fitness, getting into nightlife and porn.
Mike adds... "It’s been an unbelievably funny last 10 years and I’m excited to share it with you."
Robert Mercado:
We are so honored and elated to have LAST CALL screened at qFLIX Philadelphia! When Mike Dreyden sent me the scripts for the first season, I could feel how special this project was. I knew for me there was no option but to get this show made for the world to see. Thank You to Mike. Your collaborative spirit and our splendid actors and crew came together and managed to capture lighting and lots of love in a bottle. I am very proud to share LAST CALL season one with the world and I can't wait for season two to begin production.
Mike Dreyden:
Returning to qFLIX Philadelphia representing my own project is very exciting and a wonderful honor. Everyone at the festival, from the producers to the volunteers are simply the best! I am grateful to Robert for coming aboard and agreeing to help me bring LAST CALL to the screen. This is not a project where one can wear all the hats from creating this story from thought, to paper to screen and as performer. He understands my vision and adds his own unique perspective to the project. Our collaboration means a great deal to me. I am excited to get to work on season two.
