Travis Newton is an Associate Professor of Film at Western Kentucky University where he teaches courses in screenwriting and design. He received his M.F.A. in Film Production from Florida State University in 2008 where he worked on over 60 short films, including cinematographer for the award-winning short, THE WALL. Since that time, he has worked at Panavision Hollywood and written and directed several shorts. His feature film directorial debut, LAND OF TOMORROW, is currently playing the festival circuit.
With its depiction of climate change and climate-related global immigration, LAND OF TOMORROW offers a glimpse at the challenges of tomorrow while offering a message of hope for today. When the world is at its end, the most important thing is not survival, but compassion for your neighbor.
Equality in front of and behind the camera is incredibly important to us. 63% of the crew of LAND OF TOMORROW identify as female, both in above-the-line and below-the-line positions. Our film also features a strong female protagonist, as well as complex supporting characters of color.
