Kaio Kathriner is a Swiss-Canadian Director based out of Vancouver, BC. His documentaries and short films are inspired by his love for the outdoors, his rural upbringing, and his frequent travels around the globe.
His latest film, Refuge in the Rockies (2018) won Best Documentary Film at the 2019 Vancouver Short Film Festival and is currently touring the festival circuit. His 1st short film Hunt for the Mad Trapper (2013) received 5 nominations, including Best Short Drama, at the 2014 Leo Awards. A recent music video Balmoral Hotel (2018) by Rare Americans has surpassed 1M views online and CIVILIANA’s Carry a Light (2019) music video has been getting featured in magazines such as Northern Transmissions. Kaio also co-directed a GoAuto Spot (2018) featuring NHL superstar Connor McDavid.
