Director Biography - Grayson "GK" Kostron

Grayson Kamuela “GK” Kostron is an internationally acclaimed and award-winning Native Hawaiian filmmaker and writer from Kalihi, Honolulu, with a mission to bring “Hawaiʻi to Hollywood.” Grayson is a graduate of President Theodore Roosevelt High School. He previously danced for six years under the hula hālau “Kekaiulu Hula Studio” and is currently pursuing an associate's degree in liberal arts at Kapiʻolani Community College, as well as fully pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cinematic Arts at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

His debut short film, Kekaiulu Hula Studio, was an Official Selection in the 2022 Hawai‘i International Film Festival Student Showcase, and an award winner at the 2025 NYEC Youth Empowerment Film Showcase in Washington, D.C. His second short, Joseph’s Clarity, was selected for the 2024 Lift-Off Global Network’s First-Time Filmmaker Showcase. His award-winning 2026 animated film, THE RUNNING MAN, won Best Voiceover Performance Award at the New Bedford Film Festival, was an official selection in the digital series Native Lens, became an official selection at the AXD Film Festival in Alexandroupoli, Greece, was nominated for Best Animation Short at the South Pacific Film Festival in New Zealand, was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the Carolina Film Festival in North Carolina, was nominated for the BMW Hawaii Driven Student Filmmaker Award and was also an Official Selection in the Hawai‘i International Film Festival 2025 University Showcase, and received an Honorable Mention by the New York Short Animation Festival.

In 2025, Grayson founded the Hawaiʻi-based Mini-Documentary and Blog Article Production Company, Delusional Palace, focused on promoting up-and-coming artists, business owners, and anyone "delusional" enough to make it in what they believe in, fully covering their stories within the website's delusional palace spots. The company was built to give local, next-generation voices a space to tell their stories with style, depth, and intention beyond what traditional promo content usually offers. His “Directed By GK.” YouTube channel also features more works about 'GK' and showcases his character beyond his short films.

He has previously worked for companies such as Consolidated Theatres, Straub Medical Center, HIFF's Student Committee, and Liliʻuokalani Trust. Grayson has contributed to various film productions in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, including projects led by Ciara Lacy, Ty Sanga, and himself. He continues to write and create narrative films with the hope of bringing change to Hawaiʻi and sharing his story.
