Storyteller.
In 2017, I wrote and directed my first short film, Girl Seeking Wood, which won multiple awards including Best Film, Writing and Editing at the Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Festival. It then received the honor of becoming an Official Selection at Filmapalooza in Paris, France.
My wife and I flew to Paris for a week to attend the Festival. We watched the Premiere in a castle that was built centuries ago. We ate gelato. We drank French wine. And I fell in love with film making right then and there.
As a self-taught filmmaker, I benefit greatly from my day job as a Creative Director at an Advertising Agency in Downtown Pittsburgh. Directing TV commercials for 2 decades has taught me the ins and outs of being on set, directing talent, and taking my vision of a script and storyboard from pre-pro to last frame in post.
I've continued making short films in association with the Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Project.
The 48 Hour Film Project is an international competition in which you write, shoot and edit a short film in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you’re provided with a genre for your film as well as a character, prop and line of dialogue to include. On Sunday night, the final film must be submitted. The film is then judged and screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers. Judges determine winners in a number of categories. The outcome of that judging determines whether you move on to the next phase of the competition.
I hope you enjoy watching these films as much as I've enjoyed making them.
