James Wren
Actor/Director/Producer/Writer
James has been Artistic Director of Unrestricted View, the resident company at The Hen & Chickens Theatre in London, since 1999 (https://www.unrestrictedview.co.uk/). He is also Festival Director of both the Unrestricted View Film Festival & the Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival (https://www.uvff.co.uk ).
James has worked extensively as an actor. His film credits include: PEACOCK SEASON (2011), THE TRAP (2015), THE MONSTER (2015), SILENT COUNTRY (2016) & THE MAN YOU’RE NOT (2017). TV credits include: MESSIAH (BBC), 20 THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU’RE 30 (C4) & LIVE AT THE ELECTRIC (BBC). Theatre credits include: LES MISERABLES (West End), WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND (West End), THE CANTERBURY TALES (West End), RAIN DOGS (West End), LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS (Sheffield), THE ADMIRABLE CRICHTON (Chichester), BREAKER MORANT (Edinburgh) & UMBRAGE SWAIN (Edinburgh). James has also appeared in many fringe plays and internet series.
James has also worked for many years in comedy and was part of the critically acclaimed sketch show GREEDY, which did three Edinburgh festival runs and a run in New York. James also created, produced and co-hosts the smash hit late night comedy show SPANK!
James has written and produced three features films (PEACOCK SEASON (2009), THE TRAP (2015), THE MAN YOU’RE NOT (2017), has three more in development (CASTLE BAY, THE MONSTER and THE DAY THEY CAME TO SUCK OUT OUR BRAINS) and five short films (THE MONSTER (2015), SILENT COUNTRY (2016), GODLESS (2017), REPEAT, hEAT). James also co-wrote the sketch show GREEDY, UMBRAGE SWAIN (play), TALES OF CRAZY ROLF (Internet series), THE DAY THEY CAME TO SUCK OUT OUR BRAINS (Internet series).
James has directed several plays, most recently a play of monologues by New York Times editor Ken Jaworowski called ACTS OF REDEMPTION with had a run at The Edinburgh Festival and The Hen & Chickens Theatre and STUPID CUPID with has runs at Vancouver Fringe and Edinburgh 2018.
