Experiencing Interruptions?

Interitus Adfectus

A graduate student cultivates a new species of mushroom that overtakes her apartment and sanity.

Interitus Adfectus is that which destroys you from within. It's the unrealized dream that becomes a fear which rots and festers until the dreamer is a husk.

Mary's mushrooms will take you on a journey to uncomfortable places. Or, at the very least, gross you out.

Director Biography - Ella Clover, Joey Povinelli

Ella Clover is an actress/director/producer currently residing in Los Angeles.

While studying acting at Marymount Manhattan College, she started attending midnight screenings and immersive theatre productions, which inspired her to create work for herself as an actress.

With Joey Povinelli, she founded jpeg Productions - a production company interested in the bizarre and anachronistic.

Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, Ella is inspired by nature - uncomfortable weather, stars from a million years ago, the harmony and chaos of it all. Most of her time is spent pondering the incomprehensible nature of what it means to be here. Art is our sacred opportunity to communicate and empathize.

In addition to her film and TV acting work, Ella has produced for multiple high profile acts. Most recently, she went on tour of the UK with Revenge Wife in support of Kate Nash. Her producing work has been featured in Rolling Stone, i-D Magazine, and Paper Mag.

She is committed to learning more about herself and others through the arts.

Director Statement

The unspoken glue to horror is empathy. It may lie with a traumatized mother or even a masked maniac killing unruly teenagers. Outside of the carnage, is your personal dread or satisfaction at witnessing extreme events. Interitus Adfectus is about a girl who chose a checklist of academics over her hidden desire. This denial of her true self eventually destroys her.

We believe this message is universal and that everyone reading right now has undisputed brilliance in their soul. With this project, we hope to awaken the next great chef, or dancer, or butcher, or mechanic, or whatever dream has gnawed at you and never went away.

This project was adapted from our episode of The Hidden Station Podcast by the same title. The short film was made possible by crowdfunding. We hope to keep making movies with our friends forever.
