Director Biography - Jacob Howard

Jacob Howard is a multidisciplinary designer, animator, and visual artist currently studying User Experience Design at Purdue University. His work explores the space between art, design, music, and technology, often using motion as a way to transform sound into immersive visual experiences. With a foundation in graphic design, branding, and interface design, Jacob brings a systems-oriented eye to animation, combining composition, rhythm, and emotional clarity in his work.

He is particularly interested in 3D animation, audio-reactive motion, experimental film, and digital worldbuilding. Across both academic and independent projects, Jacob investigates how color, movement, and visual structure can shape perception and create stronger emotional connections. His work is driven by a desire to make digital media feel expressive, intentional, and alive.

Director Statement

My work is driven by a fascination with the interaction of art, design, and technology. I am interested in using animation not just as a storytelling tool, but as a way to visualize sound, emotion, and atmosphere. Through 3D motion, audio-reactive systems, and experimental visual language, I try to create pieces that feel immersive, rhythmic, and emotionally charged.

Studying user experience design has shaped the way I think about motion. I care deeply about how people perceive rhythm, hierarchy, contrast, and flow, and I bring that same thinking into my visual work. I am drawn to projects that sit between disciplines because that is where I feel the most creative freedom. I want my work to feel cinematic and artistic, but also intentionally designed.

This piece reflects my interest in building a visual experience that responds to music in a way that feels personal, sensory, and fully realized. It represents the kind of work I hope to continue developing as I explore animation, motion design, and the future of audiovisual expression.
