Human Resources
In this ghost story for the 99%, a young woman who lands a new job discovers that the skyscraper she works in is haunted by victims of the corporation's cutthroat pursuit of profit. Unable to ignore injustices embodied by the disembodied, she sets out to reveal the truth and stop her bosses before their seemingly benign business operations kill again.

A filmmaker since childhood, Keil has been a core member of culture-jamming group The Yes Men for over a decade, and co-founded The Fixers, an international conspiracy to disrupt systems of power and fix kinks in the universe (or make them kinkier). He won a NYFA Fellowship in Screenwriting-Playwriting (2019). He directed the corporate-horror feature "Human Resources" (2015), award-winning short "Mono Generation" (2017), and produced and co-wrote "Peace Pipeline," a MAP Funded comedy documentary opposing Line 3 that won awards at Dallas VideoFest, North Dakota Human Rights, Wolf Tree, and Skoden film fests.
At their heart, ghost stories are about retribution for wrongdoing, the desire for justice despite death. "Human Resources" gives these old-school ghost-story archetypes a modern twist with social-justice themes, offering a timely commentary on corporate exploitation and the willful ignorance of its perpetrators. What may seem like a benign keystroke or coldly clinical merger can have real human consequences beneath the layers of business-speak. What if those victims were made flesh and impossible to ignore? This film uses fantastical archetypes to dramatize real problems, and ultimately ask what can be done to fix them. We set out to make a conceptually and visually rich movie that is also purely entertaining -- and on a shoestring budget, we had the freedom to play with genre conventions in a fresh and unusual way. It's just the kind of intimate, edgy indie movie I love stumbling upon on a dark and stormy night.
