Gwen Thomson began her career as sound engineer at Royal Exchange in Manchester before working in TV, outdoor and indoor theatre and film as technical manager, director, performer and dramaturge. She is known as a “theatrical Swiss army knife”.
Theatre work includes directing circus/theatre company Cimera's mid-scale, bilingual production of 'Drudwen'; she is the technical manager for Pickled Image and is creative agent for ACW - taking creativity into schools. She is a content creator for artists and has made short films (‘Lleu’ – Cimera, ‘At home with Granddad’ – Pickled Image) to share theatre companies work with online audiences.
In film she puts North Wales on the screen and combines digital arts with music and sound. 'Echdoe' (with Ffilm Cymru, BBC Arts) recently premiered on BBC4, and she is continuing collaborations with musicians to make classical music more accessible in both live and digital formats.
She lives off grid in N Wales in a big tent.
