Director Statement

‘973’ follows a man who commits a terrible crime and immediately regrets his actions but can't take them back. This is a character study about living with the consequences of our moral choices.

Some crime dramas glamorize ‘gangsterism’ but in 973 we wish to show that criminality not only harms the victims but also the perpetrators.

On screen, gangsters are often portrayed as successful and free, we wish to challenge this by telling a story about a person troubled and trapped by his bad choices.

In this movie crime does not pay: not because the criminal is punished by some external force but because he must live with what he has done.

We see him make a choice from which there is no way back, and by the end of this story we feel that this decision will ultimately dictate the rest of his life.
