Walder Martinez is an Audiovisual Producer, Composer, and Sound Editor based in Málaga, Spain. His career began in 1990 in the music industry, leading him to found his studio, La Galera Multimedia. With over 25 years of experience in sound post-production for cinema, he has credited works on more than 30 international films (USA, Spain, Turkey, Argentina) and projects for platforms like Netflix and Prime Video.
Recently awarded "Best Music" at the 7th IESFFK (India), Walder now expands his narrative scope with his directorial debut, Gracias. By combining decades of storytelling experience through sound with cutting-edge Generative AI tools, he has evolved into a holistic filmmaker, proving that technology is best used when it serves a human story.
With Gracias, I wanted to explore a fundamental question: Can synthetic tools convey genuine human emotion? As a debut director coming from a 35-year background in music and sound, I have always believed that the heartbeat of a film lies in its rhythm and atmosphere, not just its pixels.
I chose to use Generative AI not as a shortcut, but as a new cinematographic language that allows independent creators to visualize epic narratives. However, every frame, every line of dialogue, and every musical note was guided by a strict human intent: to tell a classic story of gratitude in a way that feels intimate and handmade. This film is my proof that technology, when guided by a human soul, can indeed touch the heart.
