Director Biography - Luciano Mello

Luciano Mello is a self-taught filmmaker, his love for cinema started at the age of 8 and was the main reason he started to work as a commercial photographer working mainly in the editorial and advertisement industry. After almost 30 years working in this area, he started to focus more on filmmaking and now he is working mainly on writing, producing, and directing independent films. His knowledge as a photographer helps him to be able to print a unique style from a very subtle point of view of human behavior.

Director Statement

This short film was a collaborative experience with the actress Isadora Bellini. We didn't have a script, only the idea of escape—what is she running from? What is she escaping from? And what does she find when she escapes? We did several takes, and the narrative emerged from the images, editing choices, and music.
