IMDb qualifying Berlin Women Cinema Festival is a bi-monthly competition and an international platform which intends to promote and award female talents working in media.

The competition seeks an impressive line-up of short and feature-length films (narrative, documentary, experimental and animation) by established and emerging women filmmakers from around the world.

The festival also has a screenwriting competition, dedicated to female writers of all genres. Berlin Women Cinema Festival is organized by women artists whose mission is to provide a platform for challenging gender inequity and the lack of diversity in the screen-based media industry.

The competition has various categories for independent female artists to be promoted, awarded and recognized in the film industry.

Films must have been directed, produced or written by a female.
All genres are accepted and no premiere is required for the competition.
We do not screen the films publicly online.
Award winners may request online screening and promotion.
