Awards Evaluation System
By submitting a film to SHORTED, you confirm that you have read and accepted the terms below and agree to accept the outcome in accordance with our evaluation system and criteria.
We evaluate each submission fairly using four criteria: Story, Screenplay, Production, and Performance.
Submitting a film does not guarantee that it will be featured. All rule-compliant submissions receive a score, whether or not they are selected.
By submitting a film to SHORTED, filmmakers acknowledge that all synopses, introductions, captions, and accompanying editorial copy published by SHORTED are independently written by our editorial team as part of our curatorial process.
This editorial content reflects SHORTED's own voice and interpretation of the films we feature and may differ from filmmaker-provided descriptions, statements, or intended interpretations. As such, editorial copy is not subject to approval, revision, or replacement at the request of filmmakers, except where factual inaccuracies are identified.
What are the submission rules?
The short film should be under 60 minutes in duration and should not contain offensive or pornographic material. The person submitting it should either own the content or have the required distribution license and should not be plagiarising or copying content from another. Additionally, short films should not include banner ads, although ad-films are accepted. All short films that are submitted must be shared in their original language. Burnt subtitles should be present for all short films that are not in English.
What is the refund policy?
The submissions are irreversible, and a refund is not applicable if the user wants to withdraw the submission after submitting on the website or for not following the rules. If the film is not featured for not meeting the minimum criteria, the submission fee will not be refunded.
What happens if I get selected?
All the short films that receive a cumulative rating of 6.8 or above are featured on the platform. Our editorial team also writes a review of the film along with the feature. Additionally, we will promote it on our Instagram handle and newsletters.
How do you showcase short films?
We review the short films and embed the YouTube/Vimeo link along with it. We also add detailed information about the cast and the crew. For short films traveling in the festival circuit, we add the festival information.
How long does the review generally take?
The review takes approximately 8-10 days to go live on the website.
If I submit, am I guaranteed a feature?
Unfortunately, no. We showcase the best short films with our viewers, which is why not all short films get featured. They are judged for screenplay, direction, production, and performances.
