ANIMA 2026 – XV Córdoba International Animation Festival
CALL FOR ENTRIES - REGULATIONS
I. ORGANIZATION, PLACE, AND DATES
ANIMA 2026, the XV Córdoba International Animation Festival, is jointly organized by the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Córdoba through its Experimental Animation Center (CEAn); the Animation Curricular Space of the National University of Villa María; and the Secretary of University Extension of the UNC. The organization may involve institutional collaborations and additional support.
ANIMA 2026 will take place in Córdoba, Argentina, in an in-person format from October 13th to 17th, at venues to be announced through the Festival's official channels.
II. OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the Festival are:
- To promote the recognition of animation art in its multiple dimensions: technical, stylistic, as a social product, as a cultural asset, etc.
- To create a space for meeting, reflection, and exchange between the different sectors contributing to this cultural industry.
- To promote regional and international technological updates.
- To stimulate the production, distribution, and exhibition of animation.
- To encourage specific training opportunities in the field of animation.
IIII. ABOUT THE ENTRIES
The Festival is open to the exhibition of animation works of any technique, genre, theme, format, and medium (film, video, television, Internet, smartphones, VR, AR, fulldome, etc.).
Special Interest: Innovative works and student productions are of particular interest.
- Eligibility: Participation is open to productions from anywhere in the world, with an emphasis on Latin America.
- Quantity: There is no limit to the number of works a participant may submit.
- Entry Fee: There is no registration fee.
- Production Date: Only works completed after January 1, 2025, that have not been submitted or selected for previous editions of the Festival will be accepted.
- Screening Fees: The Festival will not pay screening fees under any circumstances.
- Duration: Short films must be up to 20 minutes long.
- Feature Films: Only Latin American feature films are accepted.
Categories:
- Short Films: Animations up to 20 minutes long.
- Student/Graduation Short Films: Animations up to 20 minutes long.
- Animated Music Videos: Musical pieces with animation (independent or commissioned).
- Animated Series (Pilot Episode): One (1) pilot episode per series will be accepted.
- XR Animation: Animated experiences in VR/360°/fulldome/interactive formats (see technical requirements).
- Latin American Feature Films.
IV. JURIES, AWARDS, AND DISTINCTIONS
The organizers will appoint Juries who will grant the following official Awards and Distinctions:
SHORT FILM Category:
- Grand Jury Prize
- Best Latin American Animation
- Best Argentine Animation
- Audience Award for Short Film
- Best Fictional Animation
- Best Documentary Animation
- Best Non-Narrative/Abstract Animation
- Best Animation for Children
- Best Student/Graduation Animation
ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEO Category:
- Best Animated Music Video
ANIMATED SERIES (PILOT) Category:
- Best Pilot Episode of an Animated Series
XR ANIMATION Category:
- Best XR Animation
LATIN AMERICAN FEATURE FILM Category:
- Best Latin American Animated Feature Film
Juries may also award Special Mentions or declare a prize void if deemed appropriate. Jury decisions are final.
Cachoíto Award: Awarded to personalities or collectives in Argentine animation to honor career achievements or transformative actions. It is named after the Córdoba graphic designer Miguel de Lorenzi.
Independent Awards: Granted by audiovisual entities external to the Festival.
V. REGISTRATION PROCESS
Registration must be completed through the FilmFreeway platform: https://filmfreeway.com/animafestival.
Languages: Official languages are Spanish and English. Films in other languages must be subtitled in one of these (preferably Spanish).
Pre-selection: Films must be accessible online via streaming on FilmFreeway (YouTube, Vimeo links, etc.).
XR Animation: Must provide a download link (build/demo) and a reference video.
DO NOT send DVDs or files physically.
VI. SELECTION AND EXHIBITION
Organizers are not committed to broadcasting all material received.
The Artistic Direction decides on the curation and Competitive/Non-Competitive status of screenings.
Selected authors will receive a digital Certificate of Participation, laurels, and the Festival Catalog.
If selected, high-definition files, .srt subtitles, and promotional materials will be requested. Failure to provide these by the deadline will result in disqualification.
Participants authorize the Festival to use fragments (up to 10% of duration, max 30 seconds) for promotional purposes.
VII. ITINERANCY
The organization may exhibit selected short films after the festival as part of its Itinerant Showcases. These exhibitions will be free of charge and for educational/cultural purposes only.
VIII. DEADLINE
The call remains open until the date indicated on FilmFreeway and official Festival channels. No work will be considered eligible after that date.
IX. MENTIONS
Award winners agree to mention the prize and "ANIMA 2026, XV Córdoba International Animation Festival" in their film credits and related documentation.
X. COPYRIGHT
Participants are responsible for ensuring they have the rights to any pre-existing images or sounds used. Participants are liable for any third-party claims regarding copyright or production contributions.
XI. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By participating, all entrants fully accept these rules. Any unforeseen issues will be resolved by the Organizers based on the Spanish version of these regulations.
