In year 5 in Asbury Park, NJ it is us the "Hang on to Your Shorts" Film Festival. We are going to be back for a fifth season and this year 2018 we hope to be much bigger and better. The first season turned out to be a huge success with so many great films entered and shown in Asbury Park, NJ.
There have been festivals in the area in the past that have closed down or moved away. There are many other film festivals in the state of New Jersey but they are not close to the shore area in Central New Jersey. There have been past festivals that focuses mostly on feature films but what about that filmmaker who hasn't been able to make one yet. The artist who created a short film but is unable to show it or showcase their work. This is where we come in to the picture. We encourage the filmmakers who have short films of any length from 1 minute all the way up to 45 minute shorts to enter our festival.

(We have low entry fees so it could be affordable. We need to raise money for the festival so as a festival we can not waive any entry fees, so please do not ask, thank you.)

The festival is in adorable Asbury Park, walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach! VERY welcoming. Nice filmmaker lounge area with snacks and comfy chairs. Closing night party is awesome! This festival puts a lot of effort into details. We rated it vs. other fests of the same size, etc. Mature for its age!
For NYC dwellers, if you're traveling via train, you'll need cash on hand for cabs. It is walking distance from the station, but best to take a cab after dark.

I love this festival!!! HANG ONTO YOUR SHORTS FF is run like a tight ship but feels like a continuous party. From the moment of acceptance, I knew we were part of a lifelong filmmaking family. The great quality of the films, the lovely venues, the quaint seaside town, the fantastic networking opportunities and the warmth and generosity from CJ, Rich and Brian make HOTYS a festival you don't want to miss!

One of my top fests as a film maker! Great vibes, fantastic films and an amazing over all feel! CJ and his crew truly do a fantastic time at making you feel at home and brings the fest together making it something really special! Growing up in Jersey I was blown away by special guest Brian O' Halloran and a range of other very familiar faces! If you are a filmmaker SUBMIT! If you are just an avid fan of film check it out! As a guest or a participant you will not regret attending this event!
