The Underexposed Film Festival yc focuses its attention on encouraging, nurturing, and supporting the creativity and vision of independent filmmakers, and providing a forum where their work can be viewed. The Underexposed Film Festival yc sets itself apart by actively looking for “the undiscovered talent” waiting to be exposed. We seek diversity in storytelling and provide an opportunity for both emerging and seasoned filmmakers to screen in the same forum while encouraging dialogue between the two.

The Underexposed Film Festival yc was founded in 2012 by the Arts Council of York County (ACYC), a non-profit organization. Since its inception the festival has showcased the best in indie filmmaking from across the world. Never wavering in its mission, the UFFyc seeks out strength in storytelling, screening films that feature characters who come to life, breaking down the fourth wall, and enveloping the audience in each story. Giving festivalgoers a glimpse into their vision and process, filmmakers in attendance share their experiences during lively question and answer sessions that follow many of the blocks of films.

In 2018, the Underexposed Film Festival yc continues its focus on high quality, independently created short films where all films submitted will be in competition. On May 9-12, 2018, filmmakers and enthusiasts will converge upon Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC to be exposed to, engaged with, and intrigued by films that leave the audience with a greater worldview.

I was not able to attend the festival, but my dealings with them leading up to the festival were terrific. I also appreciated the rest of the line up of the festival.

REALLY enjoyed our first visit to the festival. They made my daughter feel very special for entering her film. They had nice trophies/plaques to hand out with lots of category winners. The quality of a few films were low - but this will improve as they will most likely start to get more submissions. I will most certainly be returning.
