Global Perspectives on Contemporary Muslim Life - Islam is not a monoculture. Whether in Richmond, Sarajevo, Doha, or Dakar; Muslim peoples inhabit an incredibly diverse and rapidly changing set of cultural, political and economic conditions. For this juried exhibition of student photography, VCU and VCUQatar students are invited to submit original photographic works that tell the story of the beauty, complexity, and challenges of globalized Muslim life in the 21st century.
These stories and representations may be direct or indirect: along with scenes of domestic or daily life, images of events, objects, landscapes, goods or architecture can all speak powerfully, humorously or poignantly to the lived experience of individuals and communities.
