Rules & Terms
Submission to the 2017 BendFilm Festival constitutes an agreement with all festival terms and conditions, and permission to exhibit the work during the festival if selected. Entrants warrant that they have the legal right to submit the work to BendFilm, that all statements made in this application are true and accurate, and that all necessary rights and clearances have been secured to exhibit the work at the festival.
To be eligible for the 2017 BendFilm Festival, submitted work must have been completed after October 1, 2015, and may not have been publicly screened or broadcast in Central Oregon prior to the 2017 festival dates.
BendFilm DOES NOT provide screening fees for submitted work. Films with distribution may be ineligible for juried competition, but still be eligible for audience awards, as determined by the BendFilm programming committee. BendFilm may deny acceptance of any film at its sole discretion. ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
Online screeners are required for submission. A direct Vimeo or YouTube link and password are requested for distribution to BendFilm Selections Committee members. Please email the screening link and password to email@example.com after submission.
Work accepted to screen at the festival will be programmed in competitive and non-competitive categories at the sole discretion of BendFilm. Venue(s), program time(s) and number of screenings of selected work are also at the sole discretion of BendFilm.
Submissions will be notified of their selection status on or about September 1, 2017. If accepted, entrant agrees to ship exhibition materials to the festival at their own expense, to arrive at the BendFilm office by Friday, September 15. Entrant also agrees to provide the BendFilm with a final DVD of their "Official Selection" by September 15 for inclusion in the BendFilm Lending Library, a free service provided to BendFilm members living in Bend. (To opt out of the BendFilm Lending Library program, please notify BendFilm in writing by October 1, 2017.)
If accepted to screen at the BendFilm Festival, entrant agrees to provide a H.264 or MPG4 file for exhibition (.mov or .mp4, 1080P or 720P, max. data rate 25 mbs, AAC Stereo 44.1khz) along with a BluRay backup. DCP may be supported in some situations, but a BluRay backup will still be required. Foreign language films must be subtitled in english. Any costs associated with any subtitling is the sole responsibility of the entrant.
If the submission becomes an "Official Selection" and/or wins a Jury or Audience Award, BendFilm requests that this be noted on promotional materials. Festival laurels will be provided to all Official Selections and Award winners.
All films being sent from outside the United States must be sent "free domicile" to the BendFilm office, with all transportation charges, duties and taxes prepaid by shipper. BendFilm will not handle customs clearances, so please be sure to include all of the proper customs documentation required by your shipping service. BendFilm will cover return shipping to the address designated as the Print Source, or to another festival or destination, within the continental United States via ground shipping.
Although every possible care will be taken with exhibition material in our possession, BendFilm is not responsible for loss or damage. Please do not send originals, special prints or masters.
