Bellingham Film is proud to present the newest addition to our line-up of film-focused events, 2-Day Flick! Teams from throughout Bellingham and beyond will devote one weekend to creating short films shot in our area in only two days. Each team will be given three prompts which must be included in their film. Genres will be chosen at random at the kick-off event on Friday, April 15th.

Don't have a team or want to try making films with new people? No problem! We are accepting individuals to be assigned to teams on April 15th.

As a special deal, 2-Day Flick sponsor Current Media will be renting equipment at deeply discounted prices to all participants (first-come-first-served).

A portion of the proceeds will go to one entrant chosen by a panel of judges at the screening on Sunday, April 17th. In addition, special prizes will be distributed from sponsors of the event (TBA).

All participants must be present at the kick-off event on Friday, April 15th at 6 PM. Please arrive no later than 5:30 PM if you signed up as an individual entrant in order to have the chance to meet your team.

At 6 PM, each team will draw a genre randomly. Genres may be exchanged with other teams, but cannot be changed after 6:30 PM. At 6:30 PM, three prompts will be revealed to all teams. These prompts will be a prop, a line of dialogue, and a specified camera setup. The prop will be supplied to you at this time. All three prompts must be used in your film, though how little or how much is up to you. Each team will receive a 2-Day Flick packet which includes all of the rules, your submission form, and a copy of the prompts.

We will be approaching businesses throughout Bellingham prior to the event about filming in their locations. On the day of the shoot, a list of those locations and their time constraints will be made available for people to sign up on a first-come-first-served basis. The requirements of each location will be strictly enforced.

After that it is all up to you. We recommend your writer(s) finish your script no later than noon on April 16th in order to allow for ample time for filming and post production.

All films must be no more than 10 minutes in length with no more than 1 minute dedicated to title screens and/or credits. Stock footage or footage filmed previous to April 15th is not allowed.

All entries must be submitted in 1080p h.264 digital format on a USB device no later than 7 PM on the evening of the screening. A completed submission form must also be submitted at this time. This form will be given to you as part of your 2-Day Flick packet at the beginning of the event and will also be available for download online. A Finish Line for you to cross will be put up in the lobby of the Pickford, after which you and your team can participate the pre-screening victory party.

Your film will be judged on three criteria; story, quality, and use of prompts. The definition of these criteria will be solely at the discretion of the judges.

At the completion of the screening the judges scores will be tallied and winners will be announced.
