Fada

This film is our final project for the intensive Cinema course at the Academia Internacional de Cinema – AIC (Brazil). We delved into real facts and data about modern slavery to create a fable that mixed fantastical elements with horror. Unlike the tales, Fada (which means fairy) cannot rely on a touch of magic to make dresses, but something in her reality changes when she falls asleep at the end of an exhausting day. In 2021, the number of people rescued from situations analogous to slavery was the highest in Brazil since 2013. Exploitation in the textile industry still causes severe impacts on people's lives, society and the environment. We were very connected to each other and to these issues throughout the process, and I was very lucky to debut as a film director alongside extremely generous people, both in the cast and crew. They trusted my point of view to address such a relevant subject and we did a great job together. Hope you like it!
