Identity and beloging
The identity and belonging award within the Guanajuato International Film Festival
Roberto Antonio Salazar Aguiñaga was born in the city of Silao, Guanajuato, in 1990, he studied Graphic Design at the University of Guanajuato. There I found a taste for photographing people, for portraying their stories, their environment and their lifestyle. “El Torito una danza libre” is his first work as a documentary filmmaker and his first approach to cinema.
I have always liked the traditions and celebrations of my country. And it is the people who keep them alive, which is why it is valuable to show how we identify with and appropriate them, especially if they serve as a space for expression and liberation. “El Torito” shows us the story of a character from a dance that has become a standard for the LGBT+ community in Silao
