Private Project

El Sueño

After their parents are murdered while crossing the US/Mexican border, two young immigrants must navigate obstacles and temptations in pursuit of a college education and the American Dream. Their hopes revolve around the Dream Act legislation. The DREAM Act (acronym for Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) if passed, would provide a legal path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants brought to the US as minors, who complete high school, have no criminal record, and show good moral character. The bill was first introduced in the Senate on August 1, 2001 and has since been reintroduced several times but has failed to pass.

Director Statement

This film was not written "for" immigrants. They know their stories and those stories are diverse. This film was written for American-born people who may not get this perspective without seeing this film. I hope that the film encourages unity among those who value Freedom and the humane application of the Rule of Law.
