A relationship between a parent and a child is one that has been the topic of many stories before. To me, this type of story is one that will never go out of date and will always be relevant to tell. Despite the lack of warmth and bond between the two main characters, they share similarities in terms of how humane and profound the motives behind their actions are. As a director, the irony intrigues me. How can one diminish their ego for a purpose bigger than themselves? How do resentment and distance suppose to represent protection? These are some of the many questions I mulled over as I explore the depth and complexity of the father-son relationship in the film. In the end, I believe that film has the power to bring people together, to talk about the unspeakable, and allow people to come to terms with what has happened. They become the real energy that keeps me burning throughout the course of the production and the message I wish to bring to the audience.
