dancefilmmaking.com is the biggest online platform for dance films. We showcase and curate the best dance cinema from around the world, promote new talent, and create a surge of inspiration and opportunity. Essentially, we're the Netflix of dance films. We want to host your ONLINE PREMIERE and provide a permanent home for your film once it has completed its festival run.

We also host an annual live screening and award ceremony for films submitted to us in the past calendar year. Not all films accepted to dancefilmmaking.com will be screened at the live event, and those selections will be made by our programming team. In 2024, the event will be hosted in Los Angeles, CA.

We love all types of dance films.
Short or long. Abstract or narrative.
As long as MOVEMENT is your mode of storytelling.

Important Note: All films on our platform are free of charge. We don't charge any subscription/viewing fees because we believe that visibility and accessibility are the ultimate differentiators.

Rules & Terms

We understand how hard you've worked on your project. For that reason every film is carefully considered and genuinely viewed from start to finish with undivided attention.

If your film is accepted, you agree to let us showcase it on our website, featured Youtube channel and social media accounts, as well as our live screening events.

Note: Submission does not guarantee that your work will be featured. Dancefilmmaking.com reserves the right to remove any film from the site that doesn't fit their standards of ethics or quality. For more details, please read our rules, regulations and policies.

A.) Eligibility Requirements

Completion Date
- We accept films both old and new. There is no completion date requirement.

Premiere Status
- We don't have any premiere status requirements, but we'd love to be your online premiere.

Films are NOT eligible if they:
- Do not use dance or movement as the primary mode of storytelling.
- Are offensive or contain any hateful rhetoric or messaging.
- Use music that is not licensed.

Entrant confirms and warrants required legal authority to submit the entry to the Festival and to use all music, images, and content in the entry.

B) Submission Guidelines

1. Films must be submitted via an online screener hosted by Vimeo or Youtube.
2. Only complete entries (including fee payment and screener) will be considered.
3. We accept films from ALL COUNTRIES, but if a lot of dialogue is involved, we encourage filmmaker's to provide English subtitles.

C) Judging & Selection
Films are selected by the dancefilmmaking.com's programming committee. If a film is selected, our office will contact the entrant by email.

D) Entry Fees
Each entry must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee. Entry fees are not refundable. Fees cover full consideration by the programming department and notification of the results. These fees may be paid by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or American Express).
