Director Biography - Luis Betancourt Nuñez

Petra (Mexico, 1993) is an artist who explores the intersection between body and virtuality, creating diverse imaginaries with moving images. Experimentation plays a fundamental role in her work, drawing inspiration from nature and observing her surroundings, she discovers interesting spectrums of spatiality between the mainstream and the digital. He uses different tools such as creative coding, machine learning, animation, performance, mapping and dance on screen. His work has been exhibited in international events such as Miami Art Week, Super Chief Gallery NFT, Free The Kitsch Festival in Greece, MIVA Festival in Ecuador, Museo Chiapas de Ciencia y Tecnología Mexico, IDOCDE.net in Switzerland, London Fashion Week and NFT Festa Metaverse. As a performer, she has collaborated with companies such as Nadére, Arts Vivants (CAN), Baal Dance Company (ES), and cultural institutions such as INBAL, Secretaría de Cultura México, Alianza Francesa México, among others.

Director Statement

My artwork explores the relationship of the body with virtuality through various explorations challenging perceptions of reality. Using technologies my aim is to push artistic boundaries and create immersive experiences. Since 2019, the digitization of my work has led to innovative projects that merge different media. My journey blends dance training with explorations in digital art, encompassing topics such as improvisation, transhumanism, synthetic art, transmedia narratives and generative dance. I continue to evolve, guided by a commitment to authentic expression of movement and ongoing experimentation with technology.
