Master in Cinema and Semiotics, Marco Aurélio Gal is an independent filmmaker with films screened from north to south of Brazil, who also worked on music videos, series, shorts and feature films.
Wrote, produced and directed "Where the sky sets the clock” (Onde o céu acerta seus ponteiros), a guerilla film made in partnership with Museu da Diversidade Sexual. The musical gay romance is set to screen at the 21th ReelOut Queer Film Festival 2020 and was featured in dozens of festivals, film clubs and cruise ships in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Canada and United States, where it won the "Celebration of Latin America" Award. It was raved by Falk Steinborn from German channel Queerblick TV: "the pureness of the story and the unforeseen play with cliches makes the film an example of how LGBT films can create a smile in the viewers face and make them feel hugged".
His next film is "How to hold a cloud to the ground" (Como segurar uma nuvem no chão) a poetic, lyrical and sensorial tale about what happens after "THE END". It was screened at Children and Young Panorama at the 21th Festival Brasileiro de Cinema Universitário. The fantasy won “Best Art Direction” (2nd FantasNóia) and “Best Cinematography” (9th FilmWorks Film Festival).
